Overview
A special guest course with Dada, flying in from Taiwan. Learn the whole underwater video workflow in DaVinci Resolve: shooting footage that's easier to grade, managing your project and media, reading scopes, building your own grading SOP, the core underwater grading techniques, and exporting for Instagram and YouTube. You finish by grading your own footage, hands-on.
What you'll learn
- Shooting footage that's easier to grade (shutter, ISO, colour profiles and shooting mindset)
- Project setup and media management (efficient post-production habits)
- The DaVinci Resolve interface and core tools (the features you'll use most, and how they think)
- Reading scopes and diagnosing the image (exposure, white balance and colour problems)
- Building your personal grading SOP (a stable, repeatable workflow)
- Core underwater grading techniques (exposure correction, colour restoration, clarity)
- Local grading and qualifiers (precise control of people, water and the focal point)
- Hands-on practice with your own footage (solving the common problems)
- Best export settings for social media (Instagram and YouTube workflow)
What's included
- 8 hours of hands-on teaching with guest instructor Dada
- Hands-on grading of your own underwater footage

Before class
To keep class running smoothly and get the most out of it, please prepare the following:
- Venue: class is in Petaling Jaya. The exact venue is sent to registered students one week before class.
- Install DaVinci Resolve before class. Saves class time on installation issues. Not installed yet? Tell us beforehand and Dada will help check the right version.
- Bring your own laptop. Class is hands-on, so use the computer you normally edit and grade on. You can keep practising on it after class.
- Check your storage and that the laptop runs smoothly. Keep enough free space so footage imports, plays back and exports without problems.
- Organise your own footage in advance. Bring underwater videos or photos you want to work on. Your own footage makes the class far more relevant to the problems you actually meet.
- Bring a mouse. Much easier than a trackpad in DaVinci, especially for the timeline, nodes and curves.
- Think about the problem you most want solved. e.g. footage too green or blue, messy exposure or unflattering skin tones, no clear grading workflow, slow editing or unclear export settings.
- Follow along hands-on the whole way. This isn't a lecture: Dada walks you through the workflow and you do it as you learn.
- Set aside time to practise after class. Real progress comes from repetition. Dada will summarise the key workflows so you can keep practising at home.
- Unsure whether your laptop specs, version or footage are suitable? Send them over before class so it doesn't hold you up on the day.
Certification
No SSI certification: you leave with your own grading SOP and footage graded in class
